Australian Shepherd: Despite his name, the Australian Shepherd originated in Western America, not Australia!! Originally bred to herd livestock, he remains a working dog breed at heart. Today it has become an adored family pet. Australian Shepherds with the merle gene will often have icy blue eyes. They come in 2 merles variations- red and blue.



Corgies: The corgi is an active and intelligent dog breed who was orginally bred to herd cattle. He has an eagerness to learn which makes training him an absolute pleasure for pet parents. Corgies are great with children and other pets. Typically, the Corgi has a tan and a white coat but they can carry the merle gene resulting in a merle coat.


Border Collies: The Border Collie is known for its intense stare that can hold anyone captive! He is a dog with unlimited energy, stamina and working drive- all of which make him a premier herding dog. Endowed with an acute intellect, the Border Collie is highly trainable and excels in dog sports such agility, tracking and obedience. Though they typically come with white and black coat, the merle pattern can be seen in these dogs.


Dachshund: The Dachshund is an excellent family companion that can come in the Merle coat pattern. They can come in the red or blue merle pattern.



Great Dane: The Great Dane may look terribly imposing with its large form but it is actually one of the best-natured dogs around. The Merle gene often manifests in this dog breed which adds to its beauty and splendor.
